Citizen's of America, know that it is your constitutional right to openly film a public officer. Our elected leaders took an oath when they came into office, to protect and defend the constitution of the United States from both enemies, foreign and domestic. In this case, 3 states have violated our 1st Amendment right to film (on duty) police officers in a public space. Officer's do have the right to move individuals away from a crime scene if such person(s) is not involved with the incident at hand. However, in Maryland, Illinois and Massachusettes, state wiretapping laws that are currently in place significantly reduces your right to film in public spaces where law enforcement may be present and could result in criminal charges.
