Mr. President:
Over this past decade, we the undersigned have witnessed the steady erosion of our constitutional liberties in the name of national security. A January 13th Washington Post article by Jonathan Turley of George Washington University reports these disturbing changes.
Many of the changes we find odious were promulgated by the Bush administration, but outrageously, your administration has continued to support laws like the Patriot Act. Most recently, despite your "reservations", you condoned the detention of American citizens without due process of law.
Many of us supported you in 2008 because we believed you would uphold our rights and freedoms. You have failed to do so. We demand a candid explanation and steps to undo the damage to our constitutional system.
