Marriage should be defined as a religious sacrament between a man and woman that can be conducted in both a church/religious institution, or by the government.
Civil Unions should be defined as a union of two people that can only be conducted by the government. Civil Unions are not specific to ones sexuality or preference, but based on two people joining together in order to support one another in life activities. Civil Unions should allow any two individuals to legally unite within the eyes of the law in order to gain access to ones benefits.
These definitions both protect the traditional sacrament of marriage and provide for the freedom of choice and opportunity to live and support one another in life.
