The BATFE consistently steps on the 2nd Amendment rights of all United States citizens with arbitrary definitions and classifications that lack factual basis. Through fees that were meant to be cost prohibitive at the time of their institution, and unnecessarily and offensively complicated and slow bureaucratic processes, they have prevented people from owning suppressors (a safety device that the BATFE classified as a "destructive device", even though it is nothing more than a tube and a baffle system, used as hearing protection on a firearm), short barreled rifles and shotguns (even though they allow handicapped individuals, and those with less upper body strength easier and safer manipulation of the firearms), and fully automatic firearms, based solely on the assumption of criminal use.
