We demand that the Government stop wasting the taxpayers' money on the current tripe being transmitted over NPR's air. Specifically, in order to get any Government funding, we propose that:
- NPR discontinue airing human interest stories (and any shows devoted solely to them, such as "This American Life")
- NPR begin providing music shows containing something other than classical music (which only reflected 2% of the US record industry sales last year)
An example of a compliant NPR would be one which played nothing but Science Friday reruns. Infact, that would be a great NPR. Just no more stories about "two sisters in transylvania who have met by telephone for the first time." Tripe like that is a waste of perfectly good spectrum and paying reporters for it is a waste of money.
