Teach for America undermines effective education in the United States by putting undertrained "teachers" in classrooms in under-privileged schools that are already struggling to succeed. TFA promotes the idea that poor children do not deserve fully trained, career-committed educators.
TFA's five-week training program is too short to prepare its recruits to effectively teach any children, let alone children coming from poor and unstable homes.
TFA destabilizes schools by sending in people who have only committed to teaching for two years, rather than as their career. This undermines the entire teaching profession, and promotes the myth that there is a quick fix to America's struggling education system.
