Throughout its history our US Congress has debated many important issues. Our Congress has debated slavery, women's suffrage, prohibition, ending prohibition, and entering a number of wars. In each debate, the members were able to debate the issues on their own merits and vote on contentious issues without holding our government hostage and utilizing federal employees and local economies that depend on them as pawns in their debates. I propose that a bill is immediately passed or an Amendment if necessary to automatically renew 100% of the federal budget in 30 day increments until such time that the Congress can pass a new budget. Such a bill will enable Congress to continue to debate contentious issues on their own merits without the threat of holding our government hostage.
