Demand Congress Begin The Process To Repeal the Second Amendment

Created by B.B. on March 17, 2013

In 1787, the founders who chose to include the second amendment faced the following conditions: European encroachment on the border with Spanish Florida, access to the Mississippi blocked by Spain and France and hostile encroachment from Britain and France along the Canadian border. In US territory, Britain held forts which it refused to evacuate as well. The founders also faced America's first debt crisis and were unable then to raise anything but a tiny standing army. The second amendment was intended to promote a public-private partnership to raise militia forces to help ensure our national security. This is stated in the amendment itself.

It is no longer needed.

The right to bear arms is the only right which kills Americans and has killed more than all our wars combined. Repeal it.
