demand Congress to end the occupation of Puerto Rico by the United States of America.

Created by J.S. on September 23, 2011

Demand the Committee of Natural Resources, subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs to give up their plenary powers over Puerto Rico back to the Puerto Ricans. 2011 is the year that marks over half a millennium of foreign occupation of Puerto Rico, since 1511 and over 113 years of US occupation. Allow Puerto Ricans to rule Puerto Rico, not a foreign power 1,500 miles away in a different language. If they want to be accepted in the Union they can ask for it as an independent country and congress can either reject or accept it but do not use it as an excuse to hold them without the basic powers the US fought the British to gain. The US dictating their media, food, who/what enters and exit, laws, environment, and others is not proper of a republic; only empires do that.
