On April 24, 2013, fewer than 20% of joint congressional subcommittee members showed up for a hearing on long-term unemployment. Congress members spend more time traveling or raising money than they do legislating. With so many critical issues facing the country, Senators and Representatives should be required to be in their Washington, D.C., offices and/or meetings and hearings at least three, five-day weeks each month, with shorter breaks between sessions. Put them to work!
