demand that Congress increase the Federal minimum wage to a living wage, and adjust the amount annually for inflation.

Created by M.M. on June 19, 2012

Enforcing a living wage would ensure that businesses pay employees enough to survive (rent, groceries, and other basic expenses). This could potentially lift millions of people out of poverty, and stabilize the middle class. Currently, many individuals have to depend on government assistance or work several jobs to survive, because their jobs simply do not pay enough. Higher wages would lead to additional spending in the economy (creating more jobs), additional income taxes (helping the deficit), and a higher quality of living across the entire nation.
