Currently, the Estate Tax which is otherwise known as the "Death Tax", is levied on estates that are worth $5 million and in January that decreases to $1 million. This impacts families that own farms, for example, and do not have $1 million in income but own $1 million in assets such as farmland. Each successive generation must pay this tax, which means that each generation will pay $550,000 to simply retain the land.
This tax structure prohibits Americans from building assets and a future to pass to their children, and places an immoral burden on Americans by forcing them to sell assets to simply pay taxes.
We hereby petition the President to demand that Congress permanently eliminate the Estate Tax, and protect the American dream.
