The United States Constitution clearly indicates that Electors must cast ballots separately for the offices of President and Vice President: " they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President..." Yet nearly all parties nominate persons for both offices on the same ticket, and elections proceed from there.
Americans have the right to choose whom they want in each office, and deserve the ability to exercise that right. By having persons run for either office, Americans can determine whom they desire in whichever position they choose. While our First or Second Amendment rights are regularly championed, our right to government of the people, by the people, for the people, is no less vital to our freedom.
