This years National Defense Authorization Act included a completely unrelated discriminatory amendment called the Russell Amendment. This amendment allows federal contractors to discriminate against the LGBT community. On 5/19/2016 the House of Representatives conducted a vote to overturn this discriminatory legislation. In the final seconds of the vote, several republicans changed votes to nay and the amendment was not overturned. We the people demand an investigation into the rules broken during the vote, including allegations of on the floor arm-twisting and Republicans not following voting procedure. Also we demand that the House re-votes on this issue at a rescheduled date.
