On August 16, 14-year-old Rimsha Misrak was torn away from her family and placed behind bars. The next day, an angry mob gathered near her home in Islamabad, Pakistan, demanding that little Rimsha be burned alive. Her crime? Allegedly burning pages with bits of the Quran written on them.
Rimsha is a Christian, and today she is sitting in a Pakistani jail awaiting trial on the charge of blasphemy. That charge carries a potential death sentence, and even though it’s unlikely she will be sentenced to death, her life is still in danger. In July, a man accused of blasphemy in Pakistan was dragged from his prison cell by an angry Muslim mob and beaten to death before his body was set on fire.
Rimsha needs your help now! Ask the Obama administration to demand her release and safekeeping.
