demand legislation from the Congress repealing the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

Created by J.C. on January 31, 2013

The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is applicable to a Congressional power created in Article 1, Section 8, "To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions." This Congressional power is no longer exercised by the government. Therefore, the Second Amendment, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." no longer serves a useful purpose. Given the current climate of gun violence in the country and the misguided use of the Second Amendment, it should be repealed.
