Launched in 2003, MySpace is the social networking website which spawned a global social media revolution. A uniquely American invention borne on the backs of entrepreneurs, it's indelibly ingrained in the histories of both the World Wide Web and U.S. popular culture.
At the height of its popularity, MySpace had over 100 million users, the majority of which were U.S. citizens. They came from all walks of life; some walked the halls of power, some walked the halls of junior high schools. They all had one thing in common: They trusted this new medium to store valuable pieces of their lives. A decade later, that trust has been betrayed.
MySpace is holding hostage millions of Americans' blog posts, private messages and other intellectual property, including the president's. We want it back.
