For SIX years the Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco Agency has been without a Director. Fox SIX YEARS, the NRA, through its lobbying of Senators, has blocked confirmation of a department that is key to creating and dealing with gun violence and law and order in our society. This should not and cannot be allowed to continue. It is not a Republican vs. Democrat issue. These Senators blocked President Bush's Director as well. This is an NRA vs. the American people issue. Congress needs to act to allow government perform its role in protecting its PEOPLE and its LAWS. They freely support investment in law and order in other parts of the world through our forces, but fail the first test of leadership at home.
