Current standards for deadly force by police officers too often result in deaths of victims for which the need for such force was questionable. Too often, the only standard seems to be whether the officer feels threatened. All police should be trained in methods for avoiding use of deadly force, and should be held to much stricter standards for its use. A national standard should be established, and every police department in the nation should be required to adhere to it.
