During this past presidential election, Donald Trump has made numerous statements that have been perceived as racist or bigoted, though I am not claiming that he actually is. However, it is clear from recent reporting that too many of Trump's supporters proudly proclaim their bigotry and treat minorities with immense disrespect. Perhaps most distressing is that Donald Trump has been endorsed by the KKK and other groups known for their belief in white supremacy. Now that Donald Trump will be our next president, many of us are legitimately fearful that his election will be interpreted as tacitly condoning hate speech and racial violence. This petition merely asks that Donald Trump publicly condemn such hateful acts and promise his commitment to preserving the rights and dignity of all.
