Beatrice Mtetwa is a courageous and prominent human rights lawyer who has been working tirelessly for years to defend the rule of law in Zimbabwe under the corrupt regime of President Robert Mugabe. She has won many international awards for her work. She has protected not only the rights of Zimbabweans, but also international journalists. She has now been unjustly arrested and jailed for insisting that basic constitutional rights be respected. The US government must demand her immediate release. President Mugabe must guarantee her continued safety and freedom to practice her profession.
