demand reform of the Workers Compensation program run through DOL so that injured federal workers can receive care.

Created by A.B. on September 13, 2013

OWCP needs an overhaul. CEs decide if a condition is approved & if medical care is authorized. The CE job requires only a HS diploma, yet they authorize & deny medical care daily. CEs override the recommendations of physicians. CEs basically end up practicing medicine, with NO medical background, which is medical malpractice. Substandard care is worsened by OWCP’s VERY slow responses. It takes months to get a condition/procedure approved. If denied, it may take years for appeal. The system allows untrained, non-medical staff to make medical decisions & to take inordinate amounts of time to make decisions. OWCP should follow similar standards as private insurance. Injured federal workers deserve better care; along with prompt decisions so medical care is not delayed. Please demand reform.
