Forty years after the end of Vietnam War, religious freedom in Vietnam is still severely restricted. Members of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam are prosecuted and its leader, the Venerable Thich Quang Do is under house arrest. In light of a recent Senate amendment which adds a religious liberty provision to the overall negotiating objectives outlined in Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), we ask that the current and future Administration demands that the Vietnam government respect the right of members and leaders of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam to practice their faith and be free from persecution.
