Dear President Obama:
You stated when you signed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 ("the NDAA") that you "signed this bill despite having serious reservations with certain provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation, and prosecution of suspected terrorists." However, despite the fact that the White House is under no obligation to do so, it has chosen to defend Section 1021, authorizing indefinite detention of American citizens on American soil, in federal court, even going so far as appealing an injunction barring its enforcement (Hedges v. Obama).
On behalf of the millions of Americans who cherish the Bill of Rights, I am calling on you to stop fighting Section 1021 in court, and demand that Congress repeal it and Section 1022 immediately.
