Mr. President,
The War on Drugs has been one of the most colossal failures of domestic policy in the last 50 years. Nonviolent drug offenders now make up a significant portion of the US prison system, and prison populations in general are growing throughout the country. Meanwhile, Americans are not being provided with a fact-based education on the effects of drug use.
DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart is out of touch with the medical evidence on marijuana, and she is not concerned with the actual threat that the drug poses to Americans. Unless politicians at the DEA give people straight answers about the harms of marijuana, how can your White House expect to gain credibility when it comes to other medical advice? We urge you to accept Mrs. Leonhart's resignation
