We petition that Congressmen and Senators remain in Washington until they have passed legislation that protects our children from assault weapons. As parents, we must explain to our children why they need to return to school after the holidays when they fear what might happen. As teachers, we must explain to our students why no steps have been taken. As school administrators, we must make tough decisions about what steps we must take immediately. We call upon Congress and the Senate to remain in Washington until they can confidently say they have done the necessary work to insure domestic Tranquility.
