When a congressman or senator is elected it should not be a life appointment. It should be an honor to serve and not a job for life, where one can make money, gain power or fame. It should not be a place where lobbyists and money influence our country's policies. It should not be a place where a lifelong senator can get campaign finances and use it however they like following their campaign. It most definitely should not guarantee a salary and benefits for life.
