The A-10 "Warthog" aircraft is essential to our national defense. This critical asset provides Close Air Support to our ground troops who are operating in close proximity to enemy forces. The plane flies low and slow to allow it to loiter and identify enemy locations, placing firepower exactly where needed, a task that is more difficult for faster aircraft. It is designed to take enemy fire and still get the pilot home safely. Removing this aircraft now will place ground forces in danger as well as the pilots of other aircraft that must take up this mission.
