The crime rate for carjacking has reached an unacceptable new high with the brutal murder of a New Jersey lawyer while Christmas shopping with his wife on Friday night, December 20th. This heinous crime was committed for no other reason than to steal a vehicle. This level of indifference for human life has no place in our society. To send a message to anyone with a thought of pursuing this way of life, the federal government should act swiftly by creating a law that contains the death penalty for anyone convicted of carjacking that results in the taking of a life.
