The 18-month-old giraffe "Marius" was intentionally killed by a gunshot February 9, 2014, at the Copenhagen Zoo and fed to lions in full view of visitors and video stream.
Marius' death took place even though an online petition gathered tens of thousands of signatures against the animal's demise AND the zoo also turned down offers from other zoos to take in the animal.
We the People of the United States herby petition the Government to:
1. Issue an official statement of disgust denouncing this cruel and barbaric act by the Copenhagen Zoo;
2. Place all officials currently at the Copenhagen Zoo on a “Persona Non Grata” list to prohibit their entry into the United States and its territories, specifically including Copenhagen Zoo scientific director Bengt Holst, for a period of 20 years.
