On October 23rd of 2015, Venezuela prosecutor Franklin Nieves posted a video online whereby he confessed to using fabricated evidence against Venezulan politician Leopoldo Lopez, which resulted in a criminal conviction and a 14 year sentence.
Mr. Nieves willingly persecuted Leopoldo Lopez on account of his political opinion, therefore he must not be afforded any type of protection, as he is statutorily barred.
Asylum exists to shelter those fleeing oppressive regimes. Not for the oppressors. In the name of Democracy, human rights and the people of Venezuela, we request that the Department of Homeland Security and/or the Executive Office for Immigration Reviews deny any asylum application submitted by Franklin Nieves, as he is a human right violator.
