Italy's courts have proven themselves inadequate in the handling of Ms. Knox's case. A guilty verdict was reached and successfully appealed, only to have a second guilt verdict handed down. This proves that they are unable to prove her guilty without a reasonable doubt. Ms Knox is a citizen of the United States of America, therefore she is guaranteed the right to a fair trial and protection from double jeopardy. Italy's actions have proven that she will receive neither within their judicial system. I request that President Barack H. Obama deny the extradition of Ms. Knox, regardless of the verdict reached by the Italian Supreme Court later this week. Please protect the rights of this American citizen.
