Deny religious exemptions in the LGBTQ Nondiscrimination Executive Order.

Created by R.W. on July 02, 2014

The President has stated his intention to issue an executive order protecting LGBT people from discrimination by Federal contractors. Right wing religious leaders are pressuring him to include broad religious exemptions in his order.

Such exemptions would create a special right to discriminate for religious groups and would enshrine discrimination in an order meant to reduce it. Being a Federal contractor is not a right but freedom from discrimination is a Human Right. We urge the President to deny a religious exemption and preserve the purpose of the Nondiscrimination Order.
