Similar to the old CCC, this department would be responsible for maintaining the roads, bridges, tunnels, etc. This dept would be a Federal Dept, and would supersede any state road depts. Federal funds would be designated and state matching funds would be donated (opposite of today) every road, bridge and tunnel would be assigned a letter designating how desperately it needs repair. Out of work folks get first shot at being hired, welfare folks would have to work 40 hour weeks to get their checks, jailbirds would be required to clean and landscape.
