The Florida Everglades is one of the most unique wetlands in the world. It is America's largest sub-tropical wilderness, giving home to a diverse number of species and plant life. The Everglades is crucial to Florida in that it replenishes the Biscayne Aquifer and acts as a barrier, protecting the surrounding populated areas from flooding.
Even though the Everglades protected, it is an endangered area from development, pollution from industry, water loss, and evasive species.
We need to protect these great lands. Ask the Obama Administration to designate the Florida Everglades as a National Monument, to ensure it will no longer be threatened by developers trying to expand city boundaries or industry waste from Big Sugar and other farming companies.
