Designate January as African-American Heritage Month instead of February so Washington's contributions of can be taught.

Presently February of each year is designated as African-American Heritage Month.
The third Monday of January of each year is designated, since 1983, as a national holiday to commemorate one of the great African-Americans, Martin Luther King Jr,.
The Third Monday in February of each year is officially designated as the celebration of George Washington’s Birthday by act of congress since 1879.
The current elementary school curriculum emphasis African-American Heritage Month in February, and the nearly complete exclusion of the contributions of George Washington (as a young person stated to me “Yes, I’ve heard of Washington, but he’s not important”).
We wish to designate January of each year as African-American Heritage Month instead of February.
