Designate March 17th, St. Patrick's Day a National Holiday to honor the contributions of Irish Immigrants to our Country

Created by A.D. on January 18, 2013

We the undersigned petition the White House to support designating March 17th, St. Patrick's Day a National Holiday.
Irish Immigrants have made significant contributions to throughout the history of the United States such as forming much of the labor to build our railroad infrastructure as well as our canals, they fought in large numbers under George Washington in the Revolutionary War, fought for the Union in the Civil War, formed the foundation of our Police and fire Departments across the Northeast United States. An Irishman (James Hoban) designed the White House. These are but a few examples of the contribution of the Irish to our great history. We ask that March 17th be set aside to remember and honor those contributions.
