According to the American Lung Association, about 30,000 Americans have Cystic fibrosis, including the writer of this petition. Those of us who live with it live with chronic lung and pancreatic problems, along with a myriad of other issues.
Fifty years ago, people with Cystic fibrosis were lucky to live to elementary school age. Today, the average American with CF lives to about 37. We also have the possibility to make CF the first genetic disease that humanity has ever cured through better funding for research like gene therapy. I would be incredibly proud to live long enough to see this happen.
