I would like the President (and congress) to announce a National Day of Prayer for the victims of the horrendous crimes in Newtown, CT.
Like National Days of Prayer from our past, this would be non-denominational and, hopefully, non-confrontational. Whatever your faith, we are hoping our country can come together and pray that our children our safe. If you are an Athiest, maybe you can offer to drive someone in your town who is unable to attend without your help, to their house of worship for prayer.
Please, whether you call it prayer, meditation or a moment of silence, a national day dedicated to reflecting on this senseless and incomprehensible tragedy can only help.
