Designate the Philippines for Temporary Protected Status in the wake of Haiyan. TPS is the face of the US’ humanity comforting those who experienced tragic loss of great magnitude. It is the stalwart support that helps those stumbling under crushing weight to obtain footing to move forward.
Filipinos contribute to our society: from the Pharmacist, to the enlisted man, to the caregivers of our elderly, to the cutting-edge bio-fuels researcher, to the stay-at-home mother. Our ally deserves all forms of assistance. TPS will provide Filipinos shelter & the opportunity to support themselves so that scarce financial resources can be allocated to those on the ground hit the hardest. It will remove Haiyan's specter of despair and hopelessness and intensified by one's immigration status.
