National harp day honors this ancient and modern musical instrument that is central to our civilization and culture, from ancient Mesopotamia to King David, to the troubadors and bards, to the contemporary classical and popular music harpists. We encourage harpists to perform alone or en masse, and for the public to attend said performances on National Harp Day and throughout the year. We honor the harpists who dedicate their lives to this great instrument, and all the sacrifices they make to do so. We recognize the harp as the favorite musical instrument of so many people, and its wide recognition as the most beautiful of instruments, and the most difficult.
