Designate Shingle Creek as a natural and everlasting monument to the victims of the Pulse Nightclub

Created by C.T. on June 18, 2016

Shingle Creek is the headwater of the Everglades and flows through Orlando and Kissimmee. This petition requests the President to designate the creek from its source to Lake Toho and all the adjacent undeveloped land as a national park and permanent monument to the victims of the nearby Pulse nightclub. This would provide a permanent place of tranquility in which to remember those people as well as to provide a natural haven for all of the residents, visitors and wildlife of the area. Coincidentally it will also provide rare open natural space for the children of the area to enjoy and learn. We, the people of Florida passed a constitutional amendment last time to acquire land for conservation so no one will lose financially if this is done.
