An inability to read body language creates innumerable conflicts when communicating via written means. As communication increasingly moves from verbal to a written format, tone and body language often become indecipherable, creating miscommunications as to intent.
Designating the tilde (~) as the official punctuation of sarcasm will help avoid innumerable conflicts in cyberspace (and other written media) and strengthen communications.
-The tilde is rarely used (aside from computer programming) as a stand-alone symbol.
-It is readily available on all standard keyboards.
-It is simple and readily visible in type.

~That was an absolutely brilliant move. I love how you cost the company hundreds of dollars with that brilliant executive decision. Bravo.~
