Determine if there is a link between sensational violent acts and the side effects of lawfully prescribed medications

Created by K.H. on January 17, 2013

In our current environment in which there exists a perceived increase in incidents of sensational and horrifying acts of violence, and recognizing that in a significant number of such incidents, the criminal or alleged criminal is known to have been undergoing or recently undergoing psychiatric treatment; or has been prescribed or recently prescribed lawful psychotropic medications, we request the President to direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct or sponsor research to establish whether or not there is a link between sensational violent criminal acts and known adverse side effects of legally prescribed pharmaceutical products with particular focus on lawful psychotropic medications and/or medications intended primarily to address mood disorders.
