Right now in the United States, ownership responsibilities for firearms are considerably more lax when compared to ownership responsibilities for motor vehicles. The goal of this petition is to force the Obama Administration to produce legislation developing the framework for States to regulate firearms ownership much like motor vehicles are regulated today.
Establishing State-controlled Firearms Registries will preserve the Second Amendment rights of Citizens while creating rules and requirements (such as training and insurance requirements, like with vehicles) that will promote and encourage responsible gun ownership; additionally, annual registration fees could be levied on gun owners, with proceeds dedicated to the funding of more robust Mental Health services within each State.
