Develop a federal program, using federal, state and local tax dollars, along with individual & corporate funding to build solar stations and wind stations along the center median of the nation's interstate highway system.
The power generated by the plants would be used for the following:
1. lighting the highway system
2. providing energy for local goverment buildings, including schools, police, fire, libraries, etc.
3. additional proceeds generated to be used for system maintenance and upgrades
Generate funding for the program by using all federal tax dollars, currently being given to oil, gas and coal companies, and distribute to localities that border such highway systems who wish to be in the program.
This would generate clean energy, increase gov't revenue and create skilled jobs
