America has become an educated and informed society and todays technology has provided the means to allow timely voting for the public on issues of the day. Lottery has proven this. ATM security as well
Congressional Reps and Senators are held captive to their parties, as well as to special interest money. General Public interest has taken a 3rd row seat behind the party and the special interest money. The concept of a Republic has been corrupted by money and party power
Public voting on important issues (binding on Congress or not) will (1) provide them with accurate information as to the “will of the people in their districts
(2) if non-binbinding, provide their voters a scorecard showing they support the people, party or spec interests
(3) discourage spec interest from buying reps
