develope a national civil service program compulsory for all citizens upon completion of high school/college

The purpose of the petition is to establish a means to cement national unity and diminish class and racial disparities through compulsory service in a national program focusing on community/economic development, infrastructure revitalization and educational initiatives. Furthermore the program would promote civic involvement and engender a common sense of unity through the shared experiences of diverse groups of individuals coming together for a common cause. The program would consist on two years of service following completion of high school. Deferment of service until completion of college is acceptable and completion of alternative national service; ie military, Peace Corps, etc would meet the acceptable criteria.
