The Republic of Somaliland has been well functioning and successful, and it has declared to be independent over 20 years ago now, but still has no international recognition.
Since the declaration of independence, Somaliland has had little fighting or tribal warfare between themselves and Somalia. The United States should be the first to recognise Somaliland's independence from Somalia.
