direct the CDC to identify and report the number of abortions in the United States as a cause of death.

Created by D.H. on January 29, 2013

The HHS, Centers for Disease Control collects and disseminates an annual Abortion Surveillance Report based on data voluntarily submitted by the states.

CDC's Abortion Surveillance Report for 2009 shows 784,507 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 48 reporting areas.

These data are not included in the CDC annual Death and Mortality report. (see: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm). By all measures, deaths by abortion exceed the other listed causes of death.

We demand that the President order that the Centers for Disease Control, National Center for Health Statistics annually identify and report the number of abortions in the United States as a recognized cause of death in the "Deaths and Mortality" database.
